Make Giving an Annual Habit
The Class of 1973 broke two long-time established 35th reunion records – one for participation (the number of classmates making a gift to Cornell) , and one for the number of donors at the Tower Club level ($5000 and above). Obviously we pushed for participation in our reunion campaign, but Cornell’s need for gifts does not end at the conclusion of our reunion. The University’s “Far Above…The Campaign for Cornell” continues.
One of the top priorities of the campaign is to double the size of the Annual Fund. By reaching this goal it will give the deans, directors, and provost an unprecedented resource to meet the needs of the colleges and units on a day-to-day basis, and to respond to new and exciting opportunities. The Annual Fund supports every student, in every study, every year. When an opportunity to do something extraordinary comes up, the Annual Fund is what gives Cornell's leaders the ability to say “yes”. Gifts to the Annual Fund are unrestricted, but you can specify a college or unit to receive your gift. The Annual Fund relies on gifts at all levels to raise the funds that are needed. Every gift really does count.
Please make giving to Cornell an annual habit. It's easy to make a gift – respond to one of the mailings or phonathon calls, give online at www.alumni.cornell.edu/fund or through the toll-free phone line, 800-279-3099. Even though the “Far Above” campaign focuses on gifts to the Annual Fund, you can still specify a restricted gift to a college or program which is of interest to you. Two specific programs you might consider are the Class of 1973 Scholarship Fund, which supports one deserving student a year, and the Class of 1973 Book Fund, which supports book purchases by the University Libraries. Your gift is crucial in maintaining the exceptional education we were fortunate enough to benefit from and allowing students to enjoy such a remarkably diverse experience on campus.
